Our History
The West Australian State School Registrars Association was founded in 1994 by a small group of Registrars who realised there was an urgent need for a non-industrial association to support Administration Support Staff working in Government schools. Those original Registrars are now all Life Members of the Association. The WAECSSA Management Committee is comprised of eleven members, who all work full time and commit to WAECSSA on a voluntary basis. Our committee members are based around the state: metro north and south and various regional locations
Our Purpose
Our Association is a high profile, pro-active and professional organisation, that is accessible and affordable for Administration Support Staff of schools, be they male or female, employed within primary or secondary, metropolitan, regional or rural, independent or public schools.
We communicate effectively in an engaging, empowering, innovative way, using different media, both traditional and cutting-edge, to ensure we reach the maximum audience.
Our role is to provide future-focused, sustainable support and professional development for members that keeps us in the forefront of both members’ and potential members’ minds.
Membership of our Association is far more than “conference only”, providing ongoing tangible benefits for members. We are a strong, growing Association which is recognised by our colleagues for the value we bring to the education sector and for the vital partnership we forge between the Department of Education and our members.
- To enhance the professional expertise and status of Corporate Service Staff and to improve the quality of administration and financial management in WA State Schools.
- To create a fellowship of those engaged as which will foster advancement in administrative and financial management, thought and practice.
- To set before itself and the community the ethics of high professional responsibility and to provide a catalyst for workplace flexibility and reform.
- To organise and conduct regular meetings, conferences, forums and seminars for the advancement of Corporate Services Staff and professional development of Corporate Services Staff.
- That references in Constitutional Aims to “Corporate Services Staff” should include all members of WAECSSA.
- To promote collaborative relationships with DOE and other professional associations.
Our People
Mandy Griffin
Vice President
Manager Corporate Services
Honeywood Primary School
I have had over twenty five years experience as Manager Corporate Services in primary schools. I joined WASSRA/WAECSSA in it's second year of operation and have been a member ever since. I joined committee for the first time in 2001 until approximately 2005. I re-joined committee again in 2015 because they were struggling to get committee members. I am currently the Business Manager at Honeywood Primary School, which opened for K/PP in 2017 and K-Yr6 in 2018. Being part of starting a brand new school has been amazing and something that I will cherish.

Sonia Nelson
Vice President
Manager Corporate Service
Pia Wadjarri Remote Community School
I commenced working with the Department in 1994 in Wyndham as the School Officer before relocating to Rockingham for 7 years. I have been at Pia Wadjarri RCS since July 2007 and enjoy my school and community immensely.
As someone who is on a constant learning journey, I enjoy being able to share knowledge and skills to assist in building the capacity of others. This is evidenced in my role as the Murchison Network Executive Officer, a position which I have held since 2009.
Being a member of WAECSSA since its conception, it made sense to further advance my abilities by becoming a part of the committee in 2010. These past few years have seen me manage the database, website and public relations portfolios as well as holding a Vice President position. It is my aim, and privilege, to continue to be of service to my peers.
Cathlin Ryan

I have been very fortunate to have great mentors throughout my career journey and have been given opportunities to act in higher positions and to grow professionally. I joined the committee to pay it forward and provide opportunities to all Corporate Service Staff in the department.

Denise Moore
Committee Member
Manager Corporate Services
Ardross Primary School
I started with the Department Of Education as a permanent employee in 2013, and worked as the Registrar, which morphed into Manager Corporate Services, at Port Hedland Primary School. It was a steep learning curve! In 2016 I moved with my family to Perth and started at Ardross Primary School.
I completed my Graduate Certificate of Educational Business Leadership with the first cohort and have appreciated the knowledge and extra confidence it has afforded me in the daily undertakings of my role. It also allowed me to meet and study with a remarkable group of people. I continue to learn from them.
Working in both regional and metro schools, I have experienced the challenges and rewards of both contexts. My association with WAECCSA began from the Pilbara, and the contacts and friendships made because of it have helped in all aspects of my working life.
